Hunger pangs? You might find your next favorite sandwich waiting for you in this bustling deli, but don't forget to plan your visit wisely—parking can be a challenge, and the rush hours are lively!

It was our first time here and we got the Godmother and the Pastrami. The only disappointment was that the bread on the Godmother was a little hard. It probably would've been the same for the Pastrami but since it was a hot sandwich, the bread was softer. If we ever come back, I'll definitely get the Pastrami again.

Bay Cities is a go-to for my company lunches. When I say "we are having Bay Cities", I get hoorays and hoorahs!! The Godmother is the GOAT but I also love their Hot Pastrami and Meatball sandwiches.

I have been a fan of Bay Cities for almost 20 years now. Their Godmother sandwich is worth the hype! It's hands down one of the best I have ever had. Don't sleep on the turkey sandwich, it's just as good. I only get take out from here. It's on a busy street (Lincoln) & parking can be a nightmare. Luckily they deliver via DoorDash.

My friend has been raving about this spot for years so I finally decided to check them out for an early dinner one Saturday. Overall, I'd definitely come back again! The customer service, the grocery layout and even the customer's were all good vibes! I came in not knowing that it was a grocery store as well so I walked away with a sandwich, Spicy Arrabbiata Sauce, pasta, cheese and gelato! (Hey when in Italy...kinda :). The sandwich I got was called the godmother! The flavor was on point although the bread was a bit hard to chew. Another great news is that they have plenty of parking but I heard it can get pretty busy there so try not to come during rush hour times. While I was waiting in line I discovered that most of the customers seemed to be a regular. Several of them were kind enough to give me their suggestions of what to order. I got several recommendations from the lasagna to the godmother sandwich to "everything is delicious" So needless to say I gotta come back to try the rest!

Bay Cities Deli is hands down one of the best sandwich spots in L.A. and an absolute must-visit in Santa Monica. Since 1925, have specialized in homemade, authentic Italian specialties. Their Godmother sandwich is legendary-packed with layers of Italian meats, provolone, and their signature spicy peppers on a fresh, perfectly crisp baguette. Beyond the long list of their sandwiches, the hot deli options are just as impressive. Tried their pot roast with two sides, flavorful and tasty. Their bread is next-level-always fresh and with the perfect crunch. Staff is helpful, but it gets busy, long line for ordering sandwiches and sometimes their check out stations. They have their own parking lot, and only accept cash and debit, ATM onsite.

I dream about the sandwiches... My friend recommended this place and she comes here often with her family. I got a turkey sandwich once and it was phenomenal!!! I had been dreaming about the sandwich for a few weeks and finally got to go back this weekend. Came in on a Sunday afternoon at around 12 found a spot in the small lot and was able to order pretty quickly within five minutes no line. I got the godmother which is shown in the picture below. It is phenomenal. I love the spicy hot peppers that add a little zing to the sandwich. Large is $15. Would definitely come back and recommend this place if you're craving a nice yummy sandwich I hear parking can be tough and lines can be super long on weekdays during the lunch rush... Ambiance: fast service you grab a number wait for your number to be called put in your order and then they'll hand you your sandwich then you pay at the cash register. Or you can also DoorDash delivery!

If you want a delicious, fresh, sandwich, Bay Cities Deli is the place. Their sandwich buns are crunchy on the outside, but yet, chewy on the inside. The buns alone make me come back craving for more. They supposedly make their buns from scratch every 20 minutes. My favorite sandwich has got to be their signature sandwich (Godmother). It contains prosciutto, ham, capi cola, mortadella, salami, and povolone cheese. Savory goodness that's "oh-so-satisfying." Not only do they serve sandwiches, they also have a variety of salads, desserts as well as an expansive market section where they sell Italian, Greek, and other European groceries. They have good quality cheese, olives and wines.

I have been going to Bay Cities for over 20 years - Whether you are looking for wine, hot food, anything Italian or of course their sandwiches, Bay Cities is always consistently fabulous. Parking has always been an issue as their small parking lot is right off a very busy Lincoln Boulevard. Expect to have to work to find parking or deal with the insanity of their small parking lot. The service is great as all the employees know how busy they get, so they work hard to get you in and get you out. There are a TON of newer sandwich places that have opened in the last year or more. Most are unnecessarily expensive or complicated. It's great to know that you can always order a sandwich or more specifically the OG (The Godmother) and it will always be amazing - choose from hot / sweet peppers. You won't regret it...

My go to Italian deli, with a great selection of everything Italian from capers and anchovies, to tomato sauces, pasta, cheese, dried meats, and anything else you might miss from Italy. Their freshly baked bread is the base of all their sandwiches which are famous for the generous filings and Italian prosciutto classic the godmother. I prefer the spicy turkey salsalito with the works and hot peppers. Service is old school dependable, parking is tight in prime times so order ahead online if you can, and if you walk in, grab a number soon as you can of you are ordering a sandwich. It's cash or debit card only so come prepared. They are closed Monday and Tuesday.

The Godmother was quite delicious and super rich in flavor--almost too rich that I could easily get tired of it. It's an Italian sandwich, and then you add "The Works" with mayo, mustard, lettuce, onions, tomato, dressing, and peppers. I loved the sandwich, including the baguette. It was crisp on the top and soft on the inside. I definitely would come back to the area when craving a sandwich. We came late in the afternoon, and I was shocked to see it so packed. Luckily, we found a spot in their small parking lot. When you go inside, be sure to grab a number, and they will call you to place your order at the counter. The one star off is for the employee at the register who gave me a bad attitude and funny looks. I asked for a bag, and she got really annoyed by it!
